My book is packed with powerful proven concepts relating to limit hold’em as well as poker in general and was specifically designed to present these concepts to the reader in a very concise manner. My goal was to deliver as much useful information as possible, within as few pages as possible, in order to educate the reader within a relatively short period of time. With this in mind, not including the front cover, the table of contents and an extensive poker glossary, my book consists of thirty-nine pages (8.5 x 11). This includes four pages consisting of colored charts.
The four colored charts are: one chart shows raising vs. calling hands in early position and three charts (one chart per page) showing hold'em starting hands according to position in different types of games.
The material within my book was by no means an attempt to cover all possible decisions that you will face at the poker table. Extremely detailed material covering various aspects of poker and Texas Hold’em can be found by reading numerous books and articles, but any one book cannot do justice to the correct play in every single situation that you will encounter.
Some general concepts in my book apply to any limit poker game, but the material dealing with limit hold’em strategy is geared specifically to limits ranging from $3-$6 to $30-$60. A lot of the strategy also applies to other limits (lower than $3-$6 and higher than $30-$60) but at these other limits, some changes in strategy are often necessary in order to achieve optimum success.
The reason my book applies to such a wide range of limits is because it is nearly impossible to generalize as to the calibre of players at various limits. Due to the recent player explosion in the world of hold’em, both in brick & mortar (B&M) cardrooms and online, many mid to high limit ($10-$20 and higher) hold’em games are populated with one or more players who lack experience. Many of these “new to hold’em” players are absolutely terrible players and therefore the limit they are playing is no indication of their skill level. Naturally, you will also find some very good players at these limits, some who can be classified as top-notch players. Due to personal circumstances, some very good players can also be found at much lower limits than $10-$20. Until you scout the games and take a seat, you will not know what calibre your opponents may be. Your strategy depends on the type of game you are in.
The majority of the information within the pages of my book is suitable for playing both online and in B&M cardrooms; however, some material refers specifically to online play.
The material is based on many things that I’ve learned throughout my years of playing, both from experience at the tables and from various material I’ve read. This is an attempt to teach certain elements of the game to less experienced players, hopefully setting them on the right track to success.
